Young, Robyn (2007-2009): The Brethren Trilogy (Crusade, Brethren, and Requiem). Hodder Paperback, London.: This is a fictional account of The Templars’ last years, up until its dissolution. The books are well written, the plots recognizeable from recent speculations on the Templars’ growth and final loss of power. The novels’ characters develop through the three novels, and keep your interest. Lastly, the historical references are kept true to what is known about the period. This way, they let history come alive. It is not great literature, but a good read if you like historical novels in general, and Templar history in particular.
