OSMTH - The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem - is an international and ecumenical order of Christians. Its members are men and women of the Christian faith who seek moral and ethical integrety, and an obligation to be active contributors to society and to further increased understanding between people.
In January 2004 an OSMTH commandery was created in Norway. There are now more than 50 knights in the Norwegian commandery.
OSMTH Norway has decided that our efforts should focus on three areas:
Human Rights
The Law of Armed Conflict
Military Ethics
We work through education, seminars, the internet, and other appropriate methods.
OSMTH, the Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani, or the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, was founded in 1804, based on the traditions of the ancient Christian Order popularly known as the Knight Templars. It was restructured to its present democratic form in 1995.
OSMTH has received “Special Consultative Status” as a Non Governmental Organization in the United Nations.
OSMTH also has the responsibility to expand OSMTH to the other Scandinavian countries, which is well underway.
